Veterano de la Agricultura Naturale
“I arrived here 20 years ago. I had very little money and purchased the farm. I paid back my debt within 2 years time by growing food and vegetables. Within 20 years time I could double the land, and now I’m at the position to purchase more. I can publish books, I can organize seedings and meetings and receive people from all over the world. All this from the money that comes from the farm.
What I have been doing all these years is to serve Nature, to try to create a rich fertile soil.”

“From 1993 when I had in my hands Fukuoka’s book “The Revolution of God, Man and Nature” I understood that it’s not enough to create a small utopia and to live there happily, but one should try to do something in order to revegetate the deserts, the barren mountains of the countries and to create a paradise on this earth. And from 1993 we started organizing small seedings in the first five years and then bigger and bigger seedings and in 1998 we had come to the point of organizing a 10,000 hectare seeding in Greece with 3,000 volunteers from all over the world.
The natural farmer shouldn’t think only about his farm. It’s not enough. We should also see the mountains around us. We should have a holistic approach to things. If the mountains die, the valleys have no future. If there is no water because we’re destroying the forests and if there’s no rain, there’s no future for the farmers as well.
But it’s not from our own point of view that we’re doing this. What we feel is that man is suffering because he separated himself from Nature and the only way to recover mentally and physically is to go back to Nature.”

“If we speak about vegetables we can have two or three or even four crops from the same place. Before we harvest one vegetable, we can sow the seeds of the next one, so there is no weeding, there is no need to fertilize things, because the soil is always covered with crops. It is always improved more and more. There is more and more organic matter created.
In my farm at least half a centimetre of organic matter is created every year. I don’t have to plough my land. It’s the worms that do the work, it’s the roots of the plants, and the bushes and the vegetables that do the work.”

“In this natural farm we have more than 120 varieties of fruit trees, growing together with forest trees, with ornamental trees, with bushes. And under these trees you can see vegetables growing, grains growing, green manure plants growing, all together.
In Nature there is harmony and the key to reach this harmony is a big variety of plants and animals living together. So what we tried to do here is to establish this great variety of plants, this big biodiversity, -as the scientists would say-, and then Nature will do the rest of the work. But the basis for this harmony is the big variety of plants and animals, living together.”
